Egyptian singer Tamer Husni’s popularity has increased dramatically after serving six months in jail for forging legal documents to avoid military service.

Tamer was recently offered one million Egyptian pounds to hold a concert during the holy month of Ramadan.

One of Egypt’s biggest concert agents made the offer to the singer, hoping he will agree to hold a performance mid-Ramadan in one of Cairo’s prestigious hotels. It is the highest offer made to any Egyptian or Arab singer, on the condition that it will be Tamer’s first performance after his release, launching him back into stardom.

Tamer has requested the agent give him some time to consider the contract.

The singer was released on probation and he must check if he can hold performances, although his attorney said he is permitted to hold musical performances as long as he gets the approval first from the court.

Tamer and his best friend Haitham Shaker were imprisoned after they were found guilty of forging military papers. Despite the physical and psychological hardships Tamer faced in prison, he took advantage of his time by working on new entertainment projects. He wrote three screenplays while incarcerated, and even secured the cast and crew of the film “Kul Sana Wi Inta Habibi” (Every Year and You are My Lover).

Tamer is optimistic about the success of the film, especially after the support he has received from his fans since he began his sentence. He also composed a new song, especially for the holy month of Ramadan.
